Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 illustrate unity, collaboration and togetherness explicitly. Working together provides greater success, resilience and support than standing alone. This togetherness can be deepened as we emulate genuine oneness in Christ. In John 17:21-23, our Lord Jesus prayed “that all of them may be ONE, Father, just as You are in Me and I am in You. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that You have sent Me. I have given them the glory that You gave Me, that they may be ONE as We are One— I in them and You in Me—so that they may be brought to complete UNITY. Then the world will know that You sent Me and have LOVED them even as You have LOVED Me. Their togetherness emanates from their oneness in spirit. Certainly not superficial. The purpose of this oneness is for the world to know that the Father sent His Son Jesus to save them and to know that He have loved them.
In Genesis 3, some argue that Eve was alone when she was tempted by the serpent although Genesis 3:6d mentioned that she was with her husband Adam. Genesis 2:24b also says “they become one flesh.” Yet how come the evil one was able to deceive Eve and lure her into sin. At this point, Eve scrambled with the serpent by herself instead of consulting her husband. They were not better together in the skirmish but better together in their downfall when Adam partook of the fruit of the tree. Our togetherness can be tested.
The early Christians were driven by God’s love and longing to be with them. They realized as revealed by the Holy Spirit and godly experience that they were better together – deeply connected through shared conviction, revelation and passion for God’s purpose, and a deep love and care for each other that won souls, changed lives and the world around them. There was an intense sense of togetherness among all who believed, (Acts 2:44).
The Scriptures depict how fervent and zestful God is about togetherness – about breaking down any “walls of hostility” or separation between us to the point of sacrificing and going to great lengths to bring people together into a relationship with him.
For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us. Together as one body, Christ reconciled both groups to God by means of his death on the cross, and our hostility toward each other was put to death. (Eph. 2:14,16)
They spent their time learning the apostles’ teaching, sharing, breaking bread, and praying TOGETHER. 46 The believers met TOGETHER in the Temple every day. They ate TOGETHER in their homes, happy to share their food with joyful hearts. They praised God and were liked by all the people. Every day the Lord added those who were being saved to the group of believers. (Acts 2:42, 46-47)
